Jewelry Care

Jewelry Care Instructions

Variations such as tiny air bubbles, mold lines, evidence of hand forming and hand sanding, beads not sitting 100% flush, and other small imperfections are all within the normal range of handmade jewelry such as this. By purchasing from Hold Your Heart Keepsakes, you understand that your piece will not be “flawless” and that is what makes your piece unique.

Resin jewelry is pretty tough but to ensure this lasts, try to follow these instructions. Your jewelry is coated in a high quality resin which is a hard plastic. This will keep your pieces looking it's best and save you having to pay for the resin jewelry to be repaired or replaced. The instructions are the same for epoxy and UV based pieces. I give a 3 month guarantee, as most jeweler errors will present in that time period.

Scrapes Try to avoid bumping and scratching your piece as this could damage. Avoid using tools and doing manual work with the piece on.

Water Do NOT submerge your jewelry pieces in water. Resin is NOT waterproof, only water resistant. So please remember to remove your jewelry before showers, swimming, washing up etc.

Heat If your piece is exposed to big temperature fluctuations, it might expand and contract and cause the elements inside to separate.

Sunlight Store your jewelry out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to discolor and soften.

Smoking If your piece is in regular contact with smoke it will usually yellow. However, some of our smoking resin jewelry clients have worn their pieces for years without discoloration.

Chemicals Avoid exposing your jewelry to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. This includes antibacterial hand sanitizer, perfume, hair spray, cleaning solutions, nail polish remover, chlorine etc.

Yellowing is almost always due to resin care rather than the brand or type of resin or insufficient preservation. The top layer can often be removed and re-coated, depending on the damage.

Dullness & Scratches If your piece has dulled or has been scratched or scraped within the 3 months, I will repair it for free but the shipping to me is your responsibility. I will provide shipping back. For general wear, I can give it a touch up for $10 plus you are responsible for shipping costs. Please contact me first so I can see pictures of the piece to come up with a plan.
